ADMISSIONS
Who is Citizens College designed for?
Citizens College is designed for young adults between the ages of 18 and 29 who believe God may be calling them into ministry and want to intentionally prepare for that calling.
What are the admission requirements?
Applicants must submit a completed application, official high school transcripts, a pastoral reference letter, and participate in a personal interview.
When should I apply?
We encourage students to apply as early as possible. Fall enrollment closes August 12th.
Can I visit before applying?
Absolutely. We’d love to meet you, answer your questions, and help you experience Citizens firsthand. Contact our admissions team to schedule a visit or attend one of our upcoming Interest Meetings.
ACADEMICS
How long is the program?
The Associate of Theology is a two-year program consisting of 64 transferable college credits. The Certificate in Ministry & Leadership is a one-year pathway requiring a minimum of 16 transferable college credits.
What credential will I receive?
Students who complete the Associate pathway will graduate with an Associate of Theology through our partnership with Portland Bible College. Students who complete the Certificate pathway will receive a Certificate in Ministry & Leadership from Citizens College. Credits earned in the Certificate pathway may be applied toward the Associate of Theology should you choose to continue.
Will my credits transfer?
Through our partnership with Portland Bible College, credits earned through Citizens College transfer directly into Portland Bible College degree programs. As with any college, transferability to other institutions is determined by the receiving institution.
Can I transfer previous college credits into Citizens College?
Students with previous college coursework may request a transfer credit evaluation. Official transcripts are required, and transfer credit is evaluated on a course-by-course basis.
Is Citizens College accredited?
Citizens College partners with Portland Bible College to provide transferable college credit through its Affiliate Program. Portland Bible College is a religious degree-granting institution and the credits earned through Citizens College are designed to transfer directly into Portland Bible College degree programs. If you plan to transfer to another college or university, we encourage you to verify that institution’s transfer policies.
TUITION & COSTS
What does tuition include?
Tuition includes Portland Bible College tuition and fees, Tuesday live classroom instruction, Thursday practicum, ministry mentoring, and leadership development through Citizens College.
Are books included in tuition?
No. Required textbooks are purchased separately by the student.
Is financial aid available?
Federal financial aid (FAFSA) is not available through Citizens College. We do offer flexible payment plans to help make tuition more manageable.
STUDENT LIFE
Can I work while attending Citizens College?
Yes. The weekly schedule is intentionally designed to provide flexibility, allowing students to work while completing their coursework and participating in their ministry practicum.
Do I need to attend Citizens Church?
Yes. Because Citizens College is built around the life of the local church, students are expected to actively attend Citizens Church and faithfully participate in their assigned ministry practicum.
Do you provide student housing?
No. Citizens College does not provide student housing. Students are responsible for securing their own housing and transportation.
What is the academic calendar?
Citizens College follows the Portland Bible College academic calendar. Specific semester dates, holidays, and important deadlines will be provided prior to the start of each academic year.
Do I need a laptop?
Yes. Because much of your coursework is completed online, every student is expected to have regular access to a laptop or computer with a reliable internet connection.
Is this only for future pastors?
No. Citizens College is designed for anyone who senses God calling them into vocational ministry. Whether your calling is pastoral ministry, youth ministry, worship, kids ministry, missions, church planting, creative ministry, administration, or another area of church leadership, Citizens College is designed to help prepare you.
What if I’m not completely sure I’m called to ministry?
That’s okay. Many students begin with a sense that God is leading them into something more while they’re still discovering exactly what that looks like. Citizens College is designed to help you grow in God’s Word, serve in the local church, and gain greater clarity about God’s calling on your life.
